This Weeks Fights....

NABF saw action this week (May 19th) in Knoxville, TN for the first time.

The first match was between Nick "Sunshine" Lennings and "Marvelous" Mark Timmer. Timmer lead on the score card for much of the fight, but was overtaken by Lennings in the last 3 rounds in which Lennings scored three knockdowns. Lennings took the fight by a score of 115 to 110 in what was to say the least a boring brawl.

Our second fight of the night featured Corey Spinx and newcomer Pablo Florence. Well whats to say about this fight except that someone in the crowd of 8,000 people got Florence's mouthpiece and the Spinx Jinx landed another first round KO with only THREE PUNCHES! Corey could be the best pound for pound fighter in NABF.

Our next fight of the night and by far the best was between our heavyweight champ, Devarryl "Touch of Sleep" Williamson and a newcomer Steve "Two Gun" Hagar. This fight almost started with a knockdown, when Hagar land two straight jabs followed by a fury of right hooks that sent Williamson wheeling backwards and too the mat in the first minute of the fight. Williamson was quick to recover though and sent Hagar to the mat in the third with a stiff uppercut. In the forth round both fighters met the mat again after Hagar landed some hard inside shots to Williamson's left eye, and Williamson landed a hard left overhand that produced a cut over Hagar's right eye. The fifth round was a classic slobber knocker with both men trading blows like school yard bullies. Both men nearly went down this round and had to have standing eight counts. In the six Williamson had had enough of the hard hitting nobody and landing a hook that sent Hagar back to where ever he came from. Williamson scores his 18th KO in what ESPN analyst Mark Ryder said was one of the best amateur fights he has ever witnessed.

Our final fight of the night brought two of the best in boxing together in a battle royale. John Ruiz lashed out against hard hitting speedster Andrew Gollatta. Gollatta opened the fight with a huge right that sent Ruiz into the corner bleeding from his left eye. Ruiz recovered from the cut to score a second round knockdown with a right hook that knocked out Gollatta's momma! In the third Ruiz really laid it on with a barrage of rights and a finalizing left hook the sent Gollatta sliding almost out of the ring with a cut pouring blood from under his left eye. Ruiz considered to be a boring boxer sure put on a show for the fans in Knoxville who cheered like a stadium of 100,000 for the Champ.
